August 18, 200520 yr two days ago my 1997 impreza outback sport started having a high idle problem, after it is started and it warmes up the idle will not drop below 1200 rmp. the check engin light is not on and a code reader shows pass. I do not think it is a vacume leak and other than the high idle it is running smooth. i disconnected the negitave terminal for a to reset the computer and it fixed the problem for about 10 min. HELP.
August 18, 200520 yr I had a similar problem with my 2.5. It turned out that my IAC was sticking and causing my high idle condition. Rather that remove and clean the IAC. (It's a bit of work). I sprayed carb cleaner through an intake hose that ran to the valve. Valve now moves freely and the idle problem has been cured. Regards; Ken
