amajeff99
two days ago my 1997 impreza outback sport started having a high idle problem, after it is started and it warmes up the idle will not drop below 1200 rmp. the check engin light is not on and a code reader shows pass. I do not think it is a vacume leak and other than the high idle it is running smooth. i disconnected the negitave terminal for a to reset the computer and it fixed the problem for about 10 min. HELP. macdonaldks
I had a similar problem with my 2.5. It turned out that my IAC was sticking and causing my high idle condition. Rather that remove and clean the IAC. (It's a bit of work). I sprayed carb cleaner through an intake hose that ran to the valve. Valve now moves freely and the idle problem has been cured. Olnick
Right under the throttle body, can be seen from the passenger's side. Do a search here on the forum--there's lots of info.
