Hi all!

My radio/cassette player just decided to stop working--something about the motor breaking? So I'm guessing the cheapest way to get a new one is at a junkyard. Is installation pretty simple if I get another Subaru unit, or should I cough up more money to get it installed?

You can get a decent CD player for 100 bucks.

Does the radio still work? Do you actually listen to cassette tapes? When the factory radio in my '96 Outback died I replaced it with an Alpine radio/CD player.

I have two head units that would fit your application...both are AM/FM/Tape and they work fine. No weather band. One is from a 2001 Legacy L and another is from a 2001 Impreza 2.5RS. Personally, I like the RS one better for some reason, but they are both interchangable with your model. Installation is a breeze by the way...plug and play. Throw me whatever you feel is reasonable and pay $5 for shipping and you can have either one. PM me if you are interested.

Not cheap in an absolute sense, but relative to the features it provides. :-\
