Blower motor relay or what?

Featured Replies

I posted a thread last week or two ago asking why occasionaly my blower motor came on when the key was off.

Now the blower motor won't come on at all unless I get lucky by beating the bottom of the drivers side dash by the fuse box.

I have checked fuses, they are OK.

The resistors are good.

Haven't checked the blower motor itself yet.

Does anyone have a scematic of an 1986 wagon. I have a hanes, but you know how they are.

I remember a line of four relays on that same side of the dash behind the fuse box. Is one of them used to direct power to the blower motor? I can here something like a relay opening and closing as I beat the dash.

check the blower motor to see if it is OK by adding 12 volts from another source...then go and switch out the relays...one is probably burnt...located under the dash to the right of the fuse box...the relays have a slightly rounded top and I believe grayish in color/ all look the same....

THANKS! Are these relay(s) still available for just under an arm and a leg from anywhere? :-\

Do you happen to know which relay it is of the four?

Sorry for being so demanding. My spare time is like gold, I ain't got any. :banghead: Thanks again.

I think the relay closest to the driver is the correct one. You may be able to match it to another relay of the four and swap it into the blower position to see what happens. Since the blower was turning on without the ignition I would guess the relay was sticking.

Yes, I agree with the sticking relay.

Thats a good idea with swapping them.

If I remember correctly all four are in line horizontaly with the driver, so is it closet to the steering column or the drivers door?

I could not find any relays that matched what I have(dealer item or pull from a scrap yard..you can interchange to find the problem relay...under my dash someone messed with it, so I can't tell you exactly which one...
