Wider tires?

Featured Replies

Soobie Friends!

I need to get some new tires for my '81 GLF hartop. It's got the stock steel rims and has 175/70 tires on the 13" rims. Does anyone know if I can go to a wider (to a 75, 80, or 85) tire with my stock rims?

Also, has anyone owned a GLF coupe with the alloy wheels? I'd love to see what they look like. Would love to get some like the gold Enkei on the 'wheels' info page, but cannot track any down.

Thanks for any help!

Andrew

75, 80 or 85 will be a taller tire, not wider. Try a 195/60/13, or better yet a 205/60 13. That's pushing the limit for the wheel width.

go to tirerack.com and learn how tire sizing works. they have a good explanation page.

Put out a thread in the "Market Place" forum and see what's available.

They might be a little tough to come by picking through junk yards...

Good Luck,
