1999 Forester 2.5 Needs a new Engine

Featured Replies

I need to replace the engine in a 1999 Forester I just bought. Does any one know where I can get an engine in Ontario Canada? Or do you know what other models used this engine?

I just bought this 99 Forester for $3000 CDN and I need to replace the engine. The previous owner was a DR and she had it serviced by subaru religiously. The mistake came when she gave it to her boys to use while away at school. Well, they never checked the oil. I think it was a good deal for $3000, now I just need to get a good deal on an engine

Any advise would be appreciated

Does Subaru have a rebuilding service? I know Mercedes offers rebuilt engines and transmissions at about 50% of the price of "new" and they come with a long factory warranty and are superb. If you're planning on keeping it, you might look into that.

Otherwise, you might start calling wreckers and try to find a used engine.

95 2.2 will drop right in. I don't know if CCRengines ships to you, but they would be worth checking.
