morceau
Recently acquired my first Subaru ever..... an 87 GL wagon. It had sat for the past few years; has 191000 miles with about 60000 on a newer engine. Engine seems to be running well (after some carb cleaner) but automatic transmission seems to slip after extended driving. Also, it seems to take more speed to get it to shift; it goes into second around 23 mph, and into third around 47. Do I need a new transmission, or is it possible that a flush would help? GLCraig
Do a search on the governor for you auto trans, it sounds like you need yours cleaned out.
FirstSubaruGLwagon
1. try cleaning the govenor, there is an "how to" somewhere on this site. 2. replace the modulator valve, 30 dollars from advance auto. and also relace the rubber vac line. 3. make sure the tranny is not "over filled" or under filled. 4.if nuthing else works, try the band break adjustment( USE EXTREME CAUTION) and if all of that doesnt work,,, just do like me and keep driving it anyway :-p:lol: Oh , and i was able to find a place specializing in subaru parts here in NC! http://www.halspartsandservice.com/
