San Jose Mechanic

Featured Replies

Can anyone recommend a mechanic for the San Jose, CA area? I don't want to go to a 'stealership' and my mechanic in Santa Cruz is sort of far. He was awesome. He even cleaned out a mouse nest on my Justy and all the decaptitae mouse babies. But I digress.

So I need a mechanic in San Jose. Please help. My 1999 Legacy Outback wagon is leaking. Big surprise, huh? In addition to the normal oil leaks, the coolant is leaking very badly and leaving a trail of coolant everywhere I go. Also the car is shaking really bad whenever I use the brakes.

Thanks in advance

There is supposed to be a very good independent in the Palo Alto-Menlo Park area. I could try to find the name if that is close enough.

Try "Japanese Beetle" in Sunnyvale, or "Made In Japan" (I think he's on Winchester), in Campbell.

Otherwise, Norm's in South Tahoe..he's far, but very good:) .

Come to Buffalo, NY, where every mechanic is a Subaru mechanic. Not really, but most mechanics have worked on plenty of them.

Your symptoms are those of common problems (hole in the coolant system, very easy to diagnose and fix. Possibly warped brakes?) and I bet your average Joe Mechanic would be up to the task. Still, I like to find mechanics with triple-digit IQs, as they're less likely to swap parts madly until the problem goes away.

thanks everyone for your suggestions

I went to Made in Japan in Campbell. They could not find the leak but they said it is burning coolant and I need to replace the head gasket. It sounds expensive anyhow. boohoo

Well, how about me? Does "I come to you" sound close enough? Are we still talking about the Justy that you had serviced in Santa Cruise? Or are we talking about a different beast? The leaks should be fairly easy to diagniose and repair. The brakes I'd have to have a look at. . .

Oh, I meet the qualifications mentioned in the post above, and I specialise in Subarus. Send me a PM or email (both can be found in my profile by clicking on my name), and I'll reply with my phone number so we can set up a time. I service an area 100 miles in radius from either SF or Sac. You fall in that range. . . (I will not go 100 miles west of SF though, unless you provide the boat)
