does anyone know if the EA81 solid front rotors are the same? I want to redrill a set of rotors so I can make my car a 5-lug or a more common 4-lug pattern and I thought the easiest way would be to machine a set of hubs for it. Does anyone know if they're the same and if so, how hard would it be to redrill the hubs with a mill?

I beg to differ. I've used EA81 solid front rotors on my 80 (EA71) Brat, and visa versa. If this is your 79 that your talking about, then yeah, the early EA81 rotors, and hubs will work. My 82 Brat actually has hubs and rotors from a parts 79 wagon that I had.
