Frustrated Staller

Featured Replies

My 96 Sub Leg O/Back dies when started cold and driven about 1 mile or so. Runs fine after shut down, wait 20-30 seconds and a restart. Runs rough on long, gradual grades, loses power. Most of the time runs great, making troubleshooting really difficult. The dealer gave up. I've been putting up with this for 2-3 years and I'm getting really tired of it. Check Engine light is lit most of the time. Computer readout says mis fire on Cyl 4, then it'lll say misfire on cyl 2, or 1 or 3, never the same one twice.

Has anyone run into this before?

Does anyone know where the thermosensor for the computer is located on the 2.5 litre, fuel injected, engine. My Chiltons says there are 2, one on top near the front for the gague (which I can find) and another near the thermostat and water outlet, that I can't find. I've isntalled a new fuel filter, new ignition control, plugs, wires, checked the knock sensor and air flow meter. Nothing seems to fix this. The only thing I can think of is it is realted to temperature??

Can't afford to get rid of it, can't afford to keep it. Agh!!

HELP!!

try that and see if that helps. Its for a newer car but I dont think subaru really changes locations of this stuff too much from year to year

My hanes manual shows it as being between the PS pump and alt "on coolant pipe under intake manifold runner"

I can scan the page and email it to you if you want.
