Jones
We have a couple of 1998 RHD legacy's 2.2 automatic trans- not bragin', my wife delivers mail. AT the moment one has the check engine light on and the codes read: "P 0740 tcc"- after reading the past questions and answers on this subject #1. Where is the "tccc solenoid"(torque converter clutch control)? Can anyone give some diognostic technique? #2. With what others have stated about paying the dealer $250 to not cure the problem, after some simple diagnostics it seems to me it may be time to consider replacing the transmission if I can be sure that the problem is inside the transmission. Any thoughts? The car has about 130k tough miles on it. Second code: P 0483"control fan rationality check"- weird name- again after reading others experiences in this and other boards I have read, it is likely to be a temperature related issue - radiator or thermostat likely. Any simple diagnostics or ideas? Thanks for your thoughts and experiences. G. Jones
nipper
HEHEHEEH your fan is crazy:banana: . How does the car drive. Do you have a tach? The tcc solenoid controls the lock up torque converter. DO you notic on the highway a rpm drop of a few 100 rpm when slowly accelearting to highway speed ? I found this http://www.troublecodes.net/Subaru/ It lists the codes in something more rational. Are your cooling fans coming on when they are supposed to? Do they come on with the AC? Is the car running hot? nipper
