which have no sidewall flex, so that the tread will not conform to roots, rocks and other trails obstacles... if you are planning on mud bogging, and that's about it... or are very redneck and like shock loading axles because the tires will not conform to the obstacle and causing deflection...

That's good to know as I don't like bogging in the mud . I like the technical trails and stuff. But I am also not a die hard off roader, I want to be, just need more time.

I don't know if it was clear in my post, I don't own those tires, I was just looking into them. Now I'll save my money for better tires.

i looked into them about 6 or 7 years ago. after i realized how thick the sidewalls were, it was easy to realize they are a real waste to buy. they'll work... but, will work, is a very subjective term. it's more of how well in all conditions, versus just mud.

something to look into is to see if they still are making highliner tires around a 26". those were the tires i settled on originally. 70 bucks a tire, for the same tread as a gumbo mudder bias ply. worked real well. but they might be discontinued now. or go into the tire shop and talk to the people in the stores. that how i found my first few sets of small offroad tires. les schwab should have boks with all that stuff in them. or they might now anymore. haven't bought any tires from them in a long time.

Instead of starting a new topic, I'll go slightly off on this one.

Anyone have any experience with re-treads? You can get some fairly mean looking ones for next to nothing it seems:

I was looking for something cheap for my buggy and stumbled across it.

i've looked at them, but haven't gotten them. I never really did find out any real info of people using them off-road. maybe you should try them, and let us know. then i could get a set for the roo.

i did a bunch of searching around tonight. all i read was good things and more good things, at that price it sounds excellent. those prices are less than half a decent tire. if not 1/3 of a cheap higher end tire. if i had the money i'd jump on a set for the roo, instead of using some used rubbers. still kicking myself for selling bfg's...... but had to at the time.

Just got 5 31 inch mud tires for 380$ shipped, can't beat that with a stick.

I'll report back on how they turn out.

I've seen quite a few 4x4's around where I live running re-tread M/T's. They use the BridgestoneDesert Dualer or similar so they havea good side wall.

My mate also used to run re-treads on his EA82. They were about 185x75r14's. Bassed on a 8 ply Van tire. They were very soft and only lasted him about 12,000km. Figured out the mileage and it was more worth getting the Kumho's like I did then those cheapies. They did go pretty good offroad though. I think the softer tread worked well over rocks.

They arrived, they look ************ing bad ************ing rump roast, 5 matching BFgoodrich All terrain T/A with white lettering. Tread looks pretty monsterous. I'm happy for 50$ a tire, can you guys fit 31's on your subies? If so, heres your new tire.
