October 4, 200520 yr Is it possible (easy) to take out an EA82T and replace it with an EA82 carbed motor? I am just wonder what would have to be done. I am just sick of the electronis in my 87 turbo wagon. I want something simple and reliable. Thanks.
October 4, 200520 yr It's doable, but some conversion work is required. It's about the same amount of work as doing this: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=40961
October 5, 200520 yr I know Miles Fox has done this also. Not sure what year engine he used, but it was a carbed one. Thinking it's the Wagon that he's been driving lately. Not sure if he swapped back to the Turbo engine, yet...
October 5, 200520 yr if your gonna swap motors for something more reliable, why not go for an ej22 instead? prolly the same amount of work, but you end up with more power and more reliability....
October 5, 200520 yr Author The reason I am not doing an EJ swap is Money. I can get a carbed motor cheap, it will bolt right up to my D/R tranny, and they are a dime a dozen in the junk yards. EJ's and MPFI engines are not. So I guess it is a little more complicated than just dropping it in, changine the fuel pump/exhaust, and wireing up the coil/alt?
