Intake interchange Q...

Featured Replies

Hey, I was just wondering, does the EA82 intake manifold fit on the EA81 engine as well? Provided they are the "same" heads (like MPFI, Carbbed, etc.) I have heard yes, and some say they aren't sure... so I thought I would ask.

Thanks

Rick

the EA-82 carb intake will fit on the EA-81, but some clearancing will be necessary.

Sweet, will an EA82 spider intake fit on MPFI EA81 heads?

Rick

Don't you have a spider intake?I think it would. Can you take some measurements and compare them to your heads on your car now?

There is a spider in the garage, but it's my sister's. I am getting one from phil though.....

I would assume that it would work, but I would need some heads or measurements to find out for sure like you were saying.

Thanks,

Rick

If they do line up,bolt pattern wise we can always match port them.I may be going to the JY today or tomorrow to look for Jeep stuff for work so I will see what I can find for sube stuff.

sweet, sounds good..........now I am worried about that cam issue......

Rick

I really don't think the cam will be that big of an issue. The other good thing is that your brat is an '84....The turbo's came in 83-84 so I am thinking with the years being about the same we should get pretty lucky.

Here's my thinking:Turbo cam profile will be shorter duration for higher rpm power.

N/a cam will be longer duration for more torque.By how much I am not sure. Please correct me if I am wrong.

I think you may be right on that, forget the crap I said in the PM I sent you. LOL

Turbo cams have less overlap than n/a cams, generally speaking. That's so less of the pressure gets bled off through the open exhaust valve.
