hey new to this place but i need help so here goes i have just acquired an 82 brat and it has a few probs. 1st it backfires like hell after 2 mins. of drive time and has no acceleration. 2nd i need to know if it is a 1.8 or a 2.0 it has and hitachi distributor but it looks like the vacuum pump on the distributor is the wrong type could someone post a pick of the right vacuum pump. it came with a second engine that has a c-w type of carb (i think)it definetally some info about either engine would be helpful

Welcome to the board. You should have an ea81 (1.8 liter motor). Check the castings on top of the engine block. It sounds like you might have a timing problem, but if it starts and runs fine when it's cold, it might be carburation and vacuum related issues.
