2.5 faster better!

Featured Replies

Has anybody taken a blown up 2.5 and put another series of heads on it? Say from a 2.2 or 2.0? The 2.0 heads are supposed to be the ticked, bumping compression way up and making the motor much more reliable. A good alternative for anybody out there that is having problems with your blow up special 2.5.

Try Nasioc, there more EJ savvy over there. but i can confirm that either the 2.2 or the 2.0 heads will work, but i can't remember which, and yes, they really raise compression quite a bit, but i don't know which octane you will need.

What will make it more reliable will be the new headgaskets, the EJ257 gaskets are much better than the older headgaskets off the older 2.5 DOHC motors.

If you're gonna go this far, i'd reccomend cams and a "perfect power 6" tuned piggyback ECU or you won't get the swaps full potential

You might raise compression, but you need to research the size of the valves. 2.0 and 2.2 heads will likely have much smaller valves and that ain't gonna help performance at all.

The base compression on both those motors is lower than on the 2.5L's. You also have the additional problem that the cam profile on the 2.0L heads is all wrong for NA applications. You could always boost it... :brow:
