Also, the shifter SUCKED... notchy and I kept missing the 2-3 shift.

LoL... You have no idea how many people I had tell me that. I used to just tell them to hook their pinky around the little ledge on the shifter, and it always resolved the problem... So, if any of you decide to test drive a '06 Civic with MT, hook your pinky finger around the ledge of the shifter(you'll see what I mean), and you'll have no problem...

I'm a loyal Subaru guy but have you driven a new Civic Si? They are roughly the same price as a 2.5i impreza and waaay quicker. Unless you really want the AWD then I'd seriously consider the Si. Used WRX's are easily/cheaply had as well.:brow: This is going a little wayward but 1 or 2 year old lexus' IS300's have gotten really inexpensive and they are one of the nicest cars I have ever driven. Just a thought. Good luck!

The Si is a very fun car... :D I got the privilage of driving the new Si about 3 months ago in Pamona, CA at the 2006 Honda Civic Ride and Drive--was a great time. They come out, in production, halfway through next month. Was thinking about getting the new Si, or an '06 Acura TSX. But, I am looking into getting a used Subie to take offraod... :)

Eh, I thought about it but...

A) It wasn't so much the engine power, but other details that left some to be desired with the Civic.

B) I've decided I don't want to be on a 6 month waiting list for one, which is even optimistic thinking probably

C) They didn't even release pricing yet... they claim $20, but I doubt that... Because of their low supply/super high demand, dealers will push them skyward above MSRP

D) I need a 4 door

And finally, I don't want to have a Rice-Boy image... if I really craved the Si, I'd just save up and get the RSX-S instead to avoid that. With the RSX-S you give up the LSD, but gain leather and other luxury niceties

I haven't really checked into used cars a lot yet. I'm on my 6th used car, and I want the refreshing change of getting something all my own, brand spankin' new... but I also understand a lot of super nice cars step down to what I can afford after just a few years. Ths IS300, I do agree, is one pimpin machine

The fastest car I've owned was a 5spd. 93 Cavalier Z24, w/a 3.1L V6... with a crapload of torque and about 140hp... and I LOVED that car, was just starting to fall apart so I had to say goodbye. From what I've found, the 2.5i runs quicker times than that did, so I know I'll be happy with the power. I don't street race or anything(wouldn't dare give Civics w/fart cans the time of day), so just that I can have some fun with it, I don't really care what can beat me.

ever consider a lease? I think subaru is still offering $199 (for 48 months) sign and drive till the end of the month. If you keep it under 12k a year it might be something to consider. I know if mine bites it this winter that is most likely what I will do.
