i have a 95 legacy sedan 5 speed that i always wanted to a put skid pan on it and did not want a new one, so i have a junk 91 loyale 4wd that had a skid pan on it. I just took the 4 bolts out then i took a wire brush wheel on a drill to clean all the oil and paint off it then repainted it. I only had to drill two holes for the front of the skid on the bootum of the rad support. their was already holes in the back that lined up with the holes in the back of the skid pan it really looks great it looks like it is new!

 

note only the 4wd loyale has skid pans

i put it on my 95 legacy their is a bracket with 6 holes, 3 pair, the middle set lined up with the back holes on the skid pan you only have two drill to mount the front i used 4 new bolts and nuts it makes it easy i would recommend clean the skid pan with a wire brush on a drill and spay paint it it looks like it is band new

as much as i would love to do this, i cant.... my legacy got a borla header within months of owning it and since it runs around the front of the oil pan, it wouldnt work..... so i geuss i'll have to keep on thinking and see if i can come up with something else.....

I did this this on my '93 Legacy and agree it's quick and easy. One extra thing I did was reshape the skid plate a bit with my BFH. I wanted to make sure there was a 1/2" or so of clearance between the oil pan and the plate. These factory skid plates are better than nothing at all, but it doesn't take too hard of a hit to mash them.

i do have the rear bolts in place and waiting for the plate.i put in some spacers so the back of the plate will drop down about 1/2 inch.

what i did is used a wire brush hook up to a drill and clean it all up then put a new coat of black paint some friends find it hard to that it is not new. it makes the skid pan look alot better

now that it's fitted an all,i'll get it cleaned up (in the future)

 

it's not attached like i wanted but its just temp for now.

i'm glad i have it so now if i pull in my drive way to fast i won't slam the oil pan again.:-p

does it look like there's enough space between the skid plate an oil pan,to allow for plate to take a small hit without hitting the pan.

It may help. It's biggest benifit is stoping the pan from getting punctured. My oil pan crumpled, instead of being torn open like it should have because that plate was between it and the ground I was hitting. I think it should still deflect minor hits without a problem

If you're wondering how tough the stock EA82 skid plate is, just put your floor jack under it and lift. I did that on mine and lifting only about half the car's weight started to cave it in. They're certainly better than nothing. But if rocks are on the agenda, ya might want to double up and weld two plates together or otherwise beef it up.

That's certainly a nice econimical way to go for some protection for sure.

Deffintelly good for road anddirt/ gravel stuff... Wouldn't really offroad expecting it to protect, but something is WAY better than nithing..
