November 17, 200520 yr Ok so since it's got cold out, the Speedo in the RX has started to make a really annoying noise, and it doesn't go away even once the car warms up. I tried searching but didn't come up with much in the older gens. The cluster on the RX was replaced less than 100k miles ago with a brand new unit and the Speedo still works perfectly no jumping around or anything. So thinking it's actually the cable rubbing inside it's case or something. Anyone ever just use some type of lube on it? Or should I be looking at just buying a new cable? Or am I Krazy to think it's just the cable and not the cluster? By the way, brand new 2 core radiator + oil cooler + intercooler=not so great of heat in 10 degree weather..takes the RX about 15mins to even develop decent heat now. Never gets above 1/4-1/3 on the gauge (which by my tests is about 180-185 (have a 185 Thermostat in it), and I don't run any of my elec cooling fans. Thermostat is still good, just cooling too well now(never thought I would say that about an EA82T...need a thermostat for my oil cooler system I think. Brrrr...
November 17, 200520 yr I've had good luck using a white lithium grease on speedo cables. You have to pull the cable out and clean up as much of the old gunk as you can and then lube the whole length, but it seems to work well.
November 17, 200520 yr Well, you ARE the Dr. of Krazy.... really though, my mom's legacy does that, only when it's cold though...but it's real bad, it does it just a tiny bit otherwise, but it also jumps around all crazy when it's cold...we've decided it must be the cable, but haven't done anything yet. another vote for the cable

Sweet white lithium...will give it a shot thanks! haha and your right Numbchux, and believe me when I drove Project Cheap to work all of the 540 employees called me crazy...
November 17, 200520 yr An old-time trick is to block off part of the radiator with a piece of cardboard.
