Roof Racks

Featured Replies

I'm looking at a 1999 Legacy L 30th aneversery with a sunroof. I was wondering what sort of roofrack I could get that would fit, and also, could/should i get it from subaru, or from a company like Thule. also, any extra info about this model would be good to hear...

thanks

I really like my Thule racks. Yakima is pretty good too. Just go to one of their websites and put your information in, and you can price out a rack for your car. It gets pretty pricey, though. I'd say I'm in for about $600, with racks, locks, ski racks, a bike rack, and a fairing. It looks totally sweet, though.

I used to sell used rack systems, Thule is the best. Yakima is ok but rusts very early, I would sell 15 year old Thule racks in perfect condition Yakima's tend to rust after about 3-5 years.

you can put on the stock racks. Today I had fence sections wider than the car and 10 feet long that are safety rails for a Railroad flat car. I was carrying two at once. These things are made from 4x6 posts with 1x6 rails. From the top of a Forester it is a straight hand over to the rail car. The roof did not even flex.
