2003 Forrester differential

Recommended Posts

I'm new to the group, from San Diego, CA. A couple of dumb questions:

1. The rear differential drain & fill plugs need a square tool of about 14mm. Where can I buy such a tool?

2. For the front diff (I have auto trans), I found the dipstick, but is there a drain plug? Or does it never need to be drained?

I usualy just use a half inch drive ratchet or Impact wrench for taking it off. It will probably be pretty hard to get off if its been on there for a while. I belive the recomended intervel is 60,000 miles.

Not sure what care you have, but there is a drain plug. In some its off to the side of the dif. On some of the newer ones I've heard they use a torx bolt though I haven't seen those myself.
