hooziewhatsit
like zefy mentioned, I'd have the shop remove both of the rear axles and take it for a drive. If the grumbling/growling continues, then it's probably a bearing. If it stops, then it's probably the diff. (btw, they can remove the rear axles by undoing the lower strut bolt and letting the trailing arm sag down, not by removing and lowering the diff, probably much quicker & easier)
Seahag1978
By the way, it's really hard to get a Subaru stuck. Very true... snow over the front bumper... hmmm, sometimes gets a bit dicey... all depends on the density... if it's light enough, you can make some cool rooster tails
KNIGHTRIDER
Hey everyone, I had recently acquired a Subaru with only 49,016 miles. So, I have a Subaru 1987 GL-10 4WD Turbo with Pneumatic Height Control. . . What my question is that it is a automatic with push button 4WD, is it a full time or part time 4WD??? Thanks, KNIGHTRIDER
Subarian
It's not full-time 4WD. It doesn't have a center differential, so it's only intended for off-road or slippery conditions. BTW, nice score!
Sister7
If it has a push button then it's part time 4WD. Full time 4WD usually has stickers that say so all over the car. Subarian
Cars that have a center differential or viscous coupling will be labeled as full-time 4wd or all-wheel drive.
KNIGHTRIDER
Is there a possibility that it can be a full-time or awd drive if it doesn't say it??? Like can you find out by VIN number or something??? Because i was looking at http://www.economysuperstar.com/milesfox/subaru/rx/vin.htm and it seems that with the vin number you can also identify the vehicle too. . .
