how replace the steering wheel

Featured Replies

I would like to put on a GT steering wheel, is there anything special i have to know before i start?

its an 83 GL wagon with NO power steering

thanks,

Bryan

Well, taking off the GLs wheel is pretty easy. You will see 2 screw holes on the back of the wheel assembly that are kinda hard to get at with a screwdriver, but it doesn't matter because they have some stupid little plastic nubs instead of screws. I broke those off, then just pulled off the horn button, revealing a big nut (17mm i think) unscrew that and the wheel comes right off.

I don't know about EA-81's but on the EA-82's the DL and GL horn circuit is different, and the connectors don't match up, its an easy fix, but its not straight bolt in.

I use a small 320mm wheel on my brat without power steering. Its lighter then the 2001 ford festiva hatchback I learnt to drive in (also had no power steering) I don't think theres a whole load of difference on how hard it is to steer. What is a "GT" steering wheel? Pictures?

It occurs to me that i read your post wrong.

To get an aftermarket wheel on, you will have to get the adapter hub to make it work.

i thought they stoped making festivas in 93?
