October 3, 200322 yr What would I need to do to put a rear sway bar on a wagon that didn't come with one?
October 3, 200322 yr hey there- rear sway bars came on some RXs & XTs (maybe some others, anyone know for sure). the welded mounts on the rear arms are what's critical. or a welder... shanonsf
October 3, 200322 yr A lot of GL-10s have rear sway bars too. As mentioned above, the main thing that you besides a sway bar are the rear control arms.
October 3, 200322 yr Author Thanks for the replies! Is it best to match diameters on the front and back? Or maybe one size up in the front?
October 3, 200322 yr you need the rear control arms and the sway bar and the 4 bracket assemblies.. if your car doesn't have rear disc brakes, the car you get the rear sway bar from definitely will and you should take the rear brake stuff too One size bigger in the rear will be more like a rear wheel drive car. I have XT6 bars front and rear in my wagon and it doesn't feel too front wheel drivey. Going to put a stock smallest one in the front and see what I think.
October 3, 200322 yr Yeah, What Andy said! I took the rear arms and brakes from a turbo sedan and front and rear bars from an XT6 for my '86 wagon. The XT6 bars are much bigger. Hey Andy, Let me know how the stock front bar works out I curious if it is better.
October 3, 200322 yr sure. it'll be a while as i have multitudes of other distractions but i'll let everyone know
