I was driving home, when my ole' Legacy just died. I tried replacing the alternator, but that wasn't it. Also tried a coil. Not it either. The starter will turn, but I don't think that I'm getting any spark. I'll try listening to see if the fuel pump is working, but I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thank you.

Could be the crank sensor, maybe the igniter.

There is also the possibility of a broken timing belt.

Before you buy parts you don't need I can let you borrow some for troubleshooting. Just pay postage both ways. Got lottsa stuff.

You're going to spend a fortune on parts unless you take a scientific approach.

 

Check for spark, inspect the timing belt, measure the fuel pressure.

 

I would also recommend you find a troubleshooting flowchart. Start at "engine turns but does not start". I think the Haynes manual has a few tips under that title.

Yeah, if it just died.....it's probably the timing belt. Remove one of the plastic caps on the timing belt cover and verify that the timing belt is in tact, and/or the cam pullies rotate when you rotate the engine by the crank.
