Cold 97 Legacy

Featured Replies

I live in Wisconsin and its darn cold right now. All week the morning temps have been -2 to about 3 degrees going to work. On these morning the temp gauge barely comes off cold and air is luke warm coming out the vents. I have changed the thermostat. If its 15 to 30 degrees out I get more then enough heat. What can I do on these very cold days?

try a higher range thermostat? i had a old civic like this, and i had to cover 1/2 the raidiator with cardboard to get heat.

Are your electric cooling fans on by any chance?

Yea, if you do run the defroster mode, your fans will be on due to the A/C running. Use a piece of cardboard to block part of the radiator.

Yep, I'm with Josh.

I run in those temps and while the cabin heater can't quite produce blast furnace heat in slow city traffic, the temp needle shows normal and I stay warm.

Hvae you tried running in recirculate mode. Sometimes it is so cold the temp differential across the heater core from the fresh air never gets all that hot. in recirculate mode, it will get warm in the car, Unfortunitly hit defrost and all bets are off that way. Ive had to run recir in 10 degree weather to get the car inside warm.
