MY 88 XT needs New Shifter Bearings , So i called all the parts stores in the Morgantown area only to find none Carried my Much Needed Bearing kit. ( shifter slops like crazy ) anyway , so i call the Subaru Dealership get connected to their service DEPT. and Guess What , They HAVE IT !!! i had to order it cause it wasnt in stock , but i ould get it ! and it is only 25 bucks for the compleate KIT !. ( The Restoration and Kustomizadion Begins )

exellent, when I checked at a dealership I found a bushman brushguard.

Finding shifter bushings for any old Subaru is strictly a go-to-the-dealer proposition. No one else makes them...

 

By the way, Conker, let me know how the bushing install goes, as I need to do them on my XT soon... I just went through that with my Legacy and it was a royal PITA...

 

Of course, yours is 2WD, that's probably a cinch anyway:banghead:

when trying to shift quickly, the shifter often hangs and I have to wiggle it around to get it in. Is this because of slop, or because subaru wagons just aren't quick shifters? It moves around okay, a bit rubbery feeling, but from the other manual wagon I drove this seems to be normal. It does have 270k km on it.
