MY 88 XT needs New Shifter Bearings , So i called all the parts stores in the Morgantown area only to find none Carried my Much Needed Bearing kit. ( shifter slops like crazy ) anyway , so i call the Subaru Dealership get connected to their service DEPT. and Guess What , They HAVE IT !!! i had to order it cause it wasnt in stock , but i ould get it ! and it is only 25 bucks for the compleate KIT !. exellent, when I checked at a dealership I found a bushman brushguard.

You might have had trouble because you said bearings instead of bushings but the dealer is probably the only place to get them anyway.

Finding shifter bushings for any old Subaru is strictly a go-to-the-dealer proposition. No one else makes them...

 

By the way, Conker, let me know how the bushing install goes, as I need to do them on my XT soon... I just went through that with my Legacy and it was a royal PITA...

when trying to shift quickly, the shifter often hangs and I have to wiggle it around to get it in. Is this because of slop, or because subaru wagons just aren't quick shifters? It moves around okay, a bit rubbery feeling, but from the other manual wagon I drove this seems to be normal. It does have 270k km on it.
