2006 Forester Stuck in Park

Featured Replies

My 2006 forester engine started but the shift leaver would not move out of park. Then I turned off engine and when I went to restart it I could not turn the key. I called Roadside Assitance who advised me on how to unjam the ignition switch (press brake pedal; try turning key in igniton while rocking steering wheel). The car started and I was able to shift from Park but now when I turn the ignition off, the steering wheel does not lock. Is there a chance the steering will lock while I am driving???

i dont think that is possible because it is dependent on key position.
