Gearbox Q's

ok say i do the very popular ej swap using eather the 20, 22 or 25, now would it be better to use the ej dual range box and save using an adptor or should i adapt the 4sp d/r currently in my 92 brumby or should i get a 5sp d/r out of a ea82?

Just curious

the EJ box requires some tunnel and driveshaft (front and tailshaft) mods as well as converting to a hydraulic clutch.

if i swap to an EJ motor i'll be making the adapter plate

Not having done the swap, but having researched it quite a bit, I think it's easiest to use your present transmission. I do have to say I really like my d/r 5 speed.

yeah ok if i did the swap i think i would use the 5sp d/r since the ej box requires too much modification then if need be in future i can do the transfer mod if i want

thanks guys

PS how do adaptors work????

Something to concider, the EJ D/R is 1.19 low range where as the EA D/R is 1.59, which allows you to crawl much more effectively.

Yeah i had that feeling that the ej "crawl" ratio is higher than the ea

Why don't we have EJ dual ranges in the States?!

The adapter plates that I have seen a just a plate with slotted holes in them because the EJ has a bigger bellhousing than the EA (Or the other way around). They are also 1/2inch thick.
