I have a 89 wagon that needs 1-2 U-joints changed. I called two parts stores and neither one lists this are my only oppotions the subaru dealer or can I find U-joints somewhere else.

if you can find a junk yard, the rear half from any ea82 4wd driveshaft, including xt's will fit the same. both u-joints are on the rear half....

I have and 86 4x4 wagon parts car with the drive shaft the only thing is the 86 has an automatic tranny and the 89 has a 5sp will it still interchange.

I believe that the rear half will interchange, i don't think that the front will though.

the only thing different about the driveshaft is the front half, due to the length of their respective tranny.

if you found a shop or the right tools to replace the u-joint itself i believe one from a certain model toyota will fit subarus. but this involves slight machining of the staked in caps
