jrbutera
Hi all. I'm new to the site and was hoping someone may have the answer to my problem. The security alarm in my new Forester is always active. That means whenever I get out of the car and try to get back in the alarm goes off. This is a real pisser in my garage or at the gas station becasue I always forget to disengage the alarm with my key fob. Anyway, the owners manual says there is a way to deactivate the passive security system so that I always have to use the key fob to activate. Unfortunatley it instructs to see the dealer. My dealer seems to be clueless here and has not been able to help me. anyone out there know the secret? Thanks
1 Lucky Texan
On some soobs I belive there are a coupla connectors under, near, in front of, the drivers door sill that need to be dis-connected (in your case). if no luck here, you might email Joe at http://www.cars101.com or a different dealer. avk
The programming DIP switches are in the alarm module which has removable cover. You want to switch to "manual arm" mode. If you don't have a manual, look up one of the recent threads about alarm problems, it has a link to technical info.
