Loyale Question

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have a 93 Loyale Wagon that recently had the HG's replaced. It had the TOD before the HG replacement, and when I got it back it still had it, but less frequently. Then about a month later, it came back with a vengance. It sounds very bad. It's to the point where I'm not even sure that it's the TOD anymore, but I swear I hear the valvetrain all the time except for maybe after 4k rpm's. My worry and my question is that last night I was driving around town so the engine was nice and warm, and I was sitting idling when I saw the oil light start flashing on. Uh oh. It has plenty of oil (it's actually over full a bit). So will that oil pump gasket make the oil pressure so low that the light will come on, or do I need to sell the loyale? I guess it could be a good excuse to look for a brat.

Thanks,

Derrick

Well, It's not that I think a brat would be any better, but I like the body style better, and would therefore be more inclined to fix it instead of sell it.

Weird thing though. Right after I posted this, the wife and I got in the roo to go to town, and it was loud as usual. We stopped at a place for about a half hour, get back in and crank it up, and dang - It's quiet as a mouse (or at least a mouse driving around in a EA82).

I don't know - I guess I'm going to MMO it and see if that keeps it quiet for good.

NO you dont need a new sooby. You need to reseal your oil pump. 90% of the time the mickey mouse o-ring tears or gets sucked into the pump. The other 10% of TOD is a worn oil pump. I replaced my pump last year, I get over 85 PSI on start up and 45+psi at 2000 rpms
