EA82T trans price. Good or bad?

Featured Replies

Hey all, I called around today from work and found an EA82T single-range transmission for 200 bucks my cost. It's only got 80,000 miles on it. Is 200 a good deal for those things. I'm a Honda kid so I'm unaware of Subaru pricing.

If it's a good price, I plan to buy it and then install new headgaskets on the EA82 sedan and sell her in good shape, rather than the low asking price in the current shape.

Thanks for the responses!

Okay after just searching a few things, it looks like my EA82T sedan is a dual range factory because it's a 5speed. Luckily I found a dual range too.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong and/or clarify me. Thanks!

Five speeds can be dual range or pushbutton. If you have a lever next to the driver's seat to shift into 4wd, it's a dual range. If you have a pushbutton on the shift knob, it's not.

Oh okay, I have the push button 4wd. So it's the "single range". That was very helpful thank you!

So is that a good price. About 80k miles for 200 bucks?

seems pretty fair to me if you can pick it up and its already pulled. a junkyard would be about $50-100 but you have to pull it yourself.

Yea this place is a "recylcer/locator" we deal with through my work, so it's already pulled. I'm just gonna go ahead and buy it so I can get this car out of my way, haha!
