Check light + bogging

Featured Replies

I have a 93 legacy GT. Its a twin turbo. Quite often when im driving it the check engine light will come on. It usually comes on when im using the turbo. I have also noticed that sometimes when I am driving along I lose power all of a sudden. Its as if im not getting any petrol going through. The rev counter goes down to about 700rpm while ive still got the foot down. It comes right soon enough but its really annoying. The check light comes on when the car bogs and also randomly when the car hasnt bogged.

I bought the car about a week ago and when I picked it up it was completely empty (petrol). I thought this might be my problem but im beginning to wonder as i have been driving round for a week now and its still doing it.

Any ideas?

I'd check the fuel filter first off. Change it out for a new one, then cut open the old one and have a look to see what was inside.

On a similar note...do you have problems with condensation building up fuel tanks where you live? That could cause similar issues.

The only other thing I can think of offhand is that I've seen a few early legacies intermittantly misfire after the plug wire boots have gotten wet or otherwise degraded.

Ok so I replaced the fuel filter.... no success!! Car was still bogging and throwing a code. Turns out it was my air flow meter. Replaced it and problem was solved. .thanks anyway snowman.
