How long should the OEM shocks/struts last?

Featured Replies

My wagon has hit 10 yrs, and just over 100K miles. The suspension seems a bit 'clunky' now on the road.

What's the expected lifespan of the OEM struts/springs? Will I notice any improvement if I replace them? What would ya'll recommend for replacements?

TIA!

i believe you can test them by pushing down the each corner and seeing if they are "mushy", i would think it would be best to replace it once the axle goes out which is maybe 100k if your lucky and I'm sure you will notice a different and speed bump performance and alike but it isn't cheap.

Traded in my 95 LS wagon three weeks ago, 175K with original springs and struts. Remarkable considering the moon craters we call roads around Boston.

Springs can last a couple of sets of struts if they don't work hard or get rusty. At 100,000 your struts should be tired even if it runs on smooth roads.
