Gl-boost
Well I had the waste gate wired up on my 87 turbo. I had hooked it back up like it should be and it smoked bad. so I wired it back up and it was ok aging. So I told my dad about it and he said try it aging and drive it this time. When I did it didn't smoke, not at all and the car is faster and better. I don't have the clip for the linkage so it wont pop off so what kind is it. The only reason why I could think it did'nt smoke is because I had change the oil. The car was like this way when I got it so I don't know why it was like this. rllywgn
im not sure if i understand you correctly but your wastegate actuator uses a cotter pin or similar to connect it to the flapper door. if your using the term "wired" in a very loose fashion, i assume you rebolted and/or reconnected the wastegate arm, this is a must as it governs the boost created by the turbo... this piece has no wires... does this help or did i miss something? rllywgn
Gl-boost
Im sorry if I was confuseing. When I got the car I noticed the waste gate was wired open with a piece of machanics wire. Why I don't know but the previous owner had it this way. The linkage was there so I just hooked the waste gate actuator linkage back up to the waste gate arm. I see that there is a groove in he waste gate linkage to probly put a clip of some type to hold it on and not have it pop off. I ned this clip to hold on the linkage because it is not there. So what kind of clip is it. If so where can I get it, will napa or advanced have it. Is there a size for it. If no one knows then I guess I will have to drill a hole and use a cotter pin. rllywgn
try an E clip... its semi circular... kinda looks like an E or its a lock clip, similar to an e clip but a complete circle and harder to remove.. they may have had it open to keep it from boosting... i had a truck the had a plate over the carb to keep it from opening all the way... kept the elderly driver slow... rllywgn

Gl-boost
As for the MKIII's yes I have two of them. An 87 turbo, targa, sport package, 5 speed, black wih grey, and an 89 turbo, auto. Sadly both have BHG and I had hoped to fix hem but have no time. Both need work so I am just going to sell them. I always like them but they seem to be problematic.
