  1. Yea, I checked the atf its normal not mixed so its engine oil. I just din't know if I am going to get it though. Im still decideing on a bunch of cars this is just one I have liked and thought about.
  2. I looked at this really clean 94 SVX with leather and AWD. The guy says head gasket but its not smokeing any antifreeze out the exhaust and it runs dam good and smooth. only problem is oil consumption in the rad, its sucking oil in to the radiator and I wanted to know if these cars have oil coolers in the rad that could have broke. So let me know what you think, thanks.
  3. I put an 94 Mazda MX6 steering wheel on my 87 GL-10. It is an airbag whel but I took out the inflator, and there is no Mazda emblem in edged into the wheel ither. It just says air bag. Its a three spoke and preferated leather. Here is a pic, just click the link and then click enter. http://www.imagestation.com/album/pictures.html?id=2106836952 I think it looks good and its not a whimpy stock wheel. I had to modify it a little to get it to work, but its been fine, only my cruise is not hooked up but I havent had the time to mess with it, and the only other thing is the turn signals don't shut off automaticly when you turn the wheel, but they rarely did that with the stock wheel.
  4. The previous owner took out my air struts to, would have been cool if they still were there and working. I still have half the air suspention stuff thouh in the car, don't know why he wouldnt have removed it. .
  5. ok then, I didn't mean to steal your thread but thanks for the help also.
  6. Mine leaks from ther also, but its a very mild drip. I have a leaking gas tank so that is my main concern right now. I just have to find the time to drop it, and well since the rear had to be droped also just to take out the dam tank. It sounds like a good time to me . I just hope all goes well, and nothig breaks such as bolts.
  7. On my 86 BMW 325es , my battery was in the trunk. I find it like this in alot of BMW cars but some had them under trhe hood also. The battery cabble was routed through on the side of the rear fender well on the passengers side, I think it then went into the floor and was in the inside of the car along the rocker panel area and then went into the engine compart ment. That would be a rather large piece of cable, and my BMW had a large fuseable link. It was about half a foot from the battery in the cable itself. So it was cable then fuseable link then the rest of the cable, if you get what I mean. So if you could find a older BMW and get the cable out, it should work. I think it will be long enough. I think all 325,e,i,es,is cars have trunk mounted batteries, and that the 318 models had them up front under the hood. Hope this helped any.
  8. Well I just completed my cleaning for the third time. I used a dremmel with a rounded bit and did it best I could. I will post about its progressive state.
  9. Leon, did the large ic pipe come of a Saab 9000, it looks like the pipe I have in my parts bin. I was looking at an ram air system to, I took out the silencer in the fender well the other day and it looks like you could run a pipe from the side of the fender well to the front of the bumper right behind the right turn signal. The only problem is you would have to relocate the turn signal.
  10. Ok then, I will try that out. I just didn't want to damage anything. I will also try the sharping stone way.
  11. Yes, on my 87 turbo sedan the hard starting was due to a bad connection at the CSS(cold start sensor). Its probly called other names but thats what I call it. On my turbo engine it was located behind the air intake hose to the turbo inlet. It is in a PITA spot but when you unplug it im sure it will be corroded.Clean it up on both ends and put a dab of grease on it to help stop it from happining again. Same for the idel connector but this one is easy to get to its right on top of the engine in front. Mine was corroded also so just clean it up and it should be fine again. Hope this helps allitle.
  12. I wa swiating for that reply, . How ever, as much as I like to my car has a substantial amount of rust/rot on the underside of it. It is not worth it for me to get to involved in a swap. I just want to fix the govenor so I can drive it long enough to just save money for a new car, then I have plans after I buy my new car to take my motor and various GL-10 parts and get another sedan with the 5 speed in it already. I just have to find one.
  13. I have had tranny shifting issues with my 87 GL-10 turbo since I got it, previous owner said needs a tranny its slipping:rolleyes: well we all know the case of that:D . I have taken it apart twice now and it is fine for about four days then starts acting up again. I have the fix thread and clean thread bt I cant seem to get it good enough. I want to know is what is the best and most efficent way and tool to buy and use to clean and debur the edges of the spring loaded part of the govenor. I did it nice and easy before, because I was affraid to damage it, but what is best to use and do. Also can I smooth the edges down enough to visually see a curve. Oh and its not apple cored.
  14. I could help you out with this one. My 87 GL-10 Sedan turbo 4WD was in by the previous owners driveway but in the field type brush part not on black top. Was there for about a year and a half but I have had not had much rouble. Only time it broke down was when my coolent turbo hose blew apart, but I managed to drive it home. Expect any rubber items to be dry rotted and cracked. I had to replace two tires. Check for frame rot from siting. Oh and expect a mouse nest in the HVAC system, I had one and I found it alive in my trunk compartment. Hope this helps some.
  15. wow, I want it. Thats it you have helped me make up my mind. I want another turbo sedan. Five speed though. I like it alot, it looks great, I like the sedans better than the rest of them. I thought you were talking about being bored. I got bored in study hall today, so I printed some of those paper soob cars on here and made one:rolleyes: My friend thought I was crazy but when he found a brat he made one to.
  16. I think there is a small light bulb back there, take it out and have a look. I like the Range feature to on my 87 GL-10 sedan but I dont know if its all that accurate.
  17. Today when I started my car I could hear what sounded like chains on car tire rattleing around, what could this be. It was up front, by the belts and power steering pully.
  18. I know how dangerous messing with airbags can and are:rolleyes: . I did a report on them in 8th grade and know how they work also. Most of all cars have three sensors( for frontal impact anyway) that will set off the front airbags. Two of the three ned to be set off to deploy them and in rare cases have I ever heard of them going of out side of the collision type deal. I know that Volvo had a law suite against them from people stepping on the brakes and it setting of the airbags. They do hurt though from what I hear. I also have fun setting them off when my dad gets a junker with aibags:D , sounds like a shot gun.
  19. Phizina just remember, I had to do some customizeing to get it to work right.
  20. Ah I stand corrected. That Mirage paint you talk of do you mean Chamealon, that paint is diffrent from all other types, regular type pearl and metalic paints flakes fine or large lay flat on the cars surface. Chamealon paint has flakes with two diffrent colors on each side. This paint's flakes Do Not lay flat, instead they lay on the side facing up and down. That is why when you look at it from one angle it blue and from another its green. There are more colors to this type of paint but it is very exspensive and is sold at $25 an ounce if not more.
  21. If the place at where you buy the paint is nice enough to let you back into there paint area they might let you choose the pearl you want. Let me clear things up. paint is mixed to order when you buy it. So if they let you back where there paint mixing rack is when it comes time to add the pearl( pearls by the way are in powder form) you can choose which ones you want to add and how much. There are a lot of diffrent colors and tints of pearls to. Decide wisely though because you will pay for it even if you don't like it.
  22. Nah, what I did is dismanteld it, I DO NOT recomend doing this but I feel safer with the inflator part out, the bad it self is still there I only removed the metal container that gives of the chemicals to inflate the airbag. I took it apart quick though as I was nervous while doing so. The only mod I had to do to the wheel was use a dremal to widen the hub on the wheel. It was to small width wise so I widend it and then had to gring down the back of the hub some. It kept rubbing on the plastic spinning control for the horn and cruse control. The MX6 wheel has a deeper spline than the subaru's smaller one, but it took up the soob's steering colum splines when put on. I will just keep an eye on the bolts( used the soob's bolt and locking washers) for tight ness. Oh and thanks Calebz for the compliment.
  23. Pearl is in all metalic paints ( that I know of). A easy way to look at it is silver, it has lots of pearl in it, thats what makes the paint shiny. Thats what pearl does, it reflects the sunlight when it hits the paint and makes it very nice looking with depth. Hope this helps any.
  24. Here is one, I use a host for my pics. All you have to do is open the link, and click enter to the left of the pic. It will make the pic bigger. This is the best I can do till tommorow. http://www.imagestation.com/album/pictures.html?id=2106836952
