You are right, the STI 6 speed tranny can and is being swaped in SVX's. Here is a link of a guy on an SVX forums that has done it. http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/showthread.php?t=31966&highlight=speed+swap] I think in this thread it was said the cost was $3500 for the swap and thats not includeing everything, but I can be wrong. And whats wrong with the Fram oil filter.

I am currently driveing an 87 Gl-10 turbo sedan and well if I ever have to part with this car and could no find another one have thought about maybe looking for an SVX. This wont be anytime soon but I like to have info if I just so happen to run across one. I just want to know the basic stuff like -HP and Torque -fuel economey est and what you all are getting -I have only seen them in Automatics and have wonderd if a 5 speed was avilable. -Along with the auto's I have heard of problems with the trannys if so what. -Also what models are there and how about some options, like leather, heated seats and what not. -And last but not least are they all AWD or are they FWD also. If I forgot to list anything I will ask agin but this looks like all of it so if you could get back to me about this stuff I would greatly appreciate it.

Nice XT, such a clean car. Also nice SVX, If I cant find another Turbo GL-10 or even maybe an XT Turbo I might look into an SVX. This is ofcourse if anything were to go wrong with my orevious Subaru, but what the hell the more soobs the better.

Well, I got the new hose on and all seems good, it started to run hot once while test driveing but temp droped soon after I shut the car off. I think it was just air in the lines still so I will refill after it cools down and then report back.
-
Ok then I will look at it today.
-
Yea It had great acceleration and power after the hose blew, but I just hope its not that hard when trying to replace it.

Well today was my lucky day I thought. When I went to the crusher it just so happens that someone pulls in with a 96 or 97 subaru Impreza outback 2.2 sport. It had the factory hood scoop and since my father knows the owner of the yard I got it for free:brow: . It was side swiped but ran. Then I decided to switch to Synthetic motor oil. I go to Advanced and to my advantage there is Castrol full Synthetic motor oil on sale. So it was $3.19 a qurt instead of $5. Well he bad was on my way home from work. I was driveing and thought my tranny wasn't shifting ( It does slip some but works rather well) and pull over and stop, I figured I was'nt used to the 3 speed auto and that I was just not paying attention. I also sorta remember the rpm's geting high up there ( I decided o get on the car when getting up to 55 mph) but cant really remember. Then a when I pull away I see alot of grey smoke and smell coolent. Dam I thought I had just got BHG. It did not over heat at all and the temp stayed in the half way mark. It happend 100 feet from my driveway so I made it home. well when I stop the car the smoke pours out the cracks out the hood. I open it up and look around and find that my coolent hose to the turbo blew. I am now releved that its not BHG and am still wondering about the tranny. So I guess I will find out tommorow. Doese'nt look that hard to change so I hope its not a pain to get off. so thats my day, sorry for the long post but I did'nt want to leave anything out.

my 87 GL-10 turbo has a 3AT -
I see this alot, alot of junk yards don't really carry old soobs anymore. I have seen an svx though at a donation lot. I have also seen junk yards just drag cars around and damage good body panles.

another speaker install thread...

I was going to change my speakers with bigger ones to but have decided to keep them the stock size. In stead I have two 12" Kicker subs and a 500 watt amp to do the bass. -
Whats a good synthetic ATF fluid.

cool, I will check these out. Thanks -
haha, I tried to get my 87 GL-10 turbo sedan with a 3 speed auto to go and so far I only got up to 75mph. I stoped because it sounded like it was reveing to high but I guess this is just how a 3 speed auto sounds.

Oh and when you flushed your volvo how did you go about doing this, and about how much did this all cost. I know synthetic fluid is not cheap but I would like to know. -

Ok I will try this, do you know if its compatible with lucas or transX if I can find it. -
I want to put synthetic ATF in my A/T. Its not in its best shape and I want to try synthetic to see if it changes anything. I want an oil that can be bought at a local parts store or shop.

yea, I don't think it really maters ither, I guess I just think it is faster because you think of this when you run high octane gas.

The only thing that may stop me is the frame in the rear is starting to rust, I would really want to fix this because I dont think I could find another turbo Gl-10 4WD sedan in where I live. I don't really care if the frame is going to be repared I don't want to get rid of this car. I just hope its not to bad.

hmm, well thats what I did'nt want to hear but I kinda figured that anyway. well I don't know what I want to do yet, I will ride it out as long as possible and just keep changeing the fluid and hopefully that helps to keep it going. Then if I find a pats car with a five speed I might decide to do a swap. This sounds like fun.
