  1. I have run 87 in my turbo, it was ok but ideld alittle funny and is not as peppy when I run 93 oct. I have used 89 also and that seemed fine.
  2. I think you unbolt the filler hose from th top and remove it with the tank.
  3. The car moves and drives, I was thinking it holds vaccum when stressed by giving the car more gas. When cold the tranny seems to slip, it slowly creeps the car and then will just grab and go. Also untill warm the tranny is hard to shift unless I mess with the gas. I don't think the tranny is bad though, because The fluid is not burning up, I changed it but on my last car when tranny went bad, and I cahnged the fluid it was burnt and black agin within a mile. The fluid in the subaru is nice and pink.
  4. Ok then I just hope what ever is leaking is fixable, I don't want to damage anything major.
  5. How do I take it out, my Gl-10 is a 4WD and I want to know if its an easy task to do by my self.
  6. I pulled the vaccum on my 87 with a 3speed auto and it dosent leak, can it still be bad.
  7. The thought is up to you, I have an 87 Gl-10 turbo and have rust and need to fix the rust by the frame and well think that the car is worth it to me. it is not unusual for a car that old with that low miles to meed gaskets and belts replaced. they do dry out from not being driven such as the oil pan gasket, and the drive and timeing belts if not replaced just get old and need to be done anyway. im not sure about the water pump or radiator though. Dosent sound to bad, just remember you will have a really nice soob once you are done. If you do this your self it will be even cheaper.
  8. Well I ahvent really ben keeping track but a quick estimate gave me around 18 mpg city and around 25 highway I think. time for a tune up.
  9. Ok then I will try to get it all. I wish the car was not messed up, it would have been nice.
  10. Well ok then, I just hope it isn't a pain in the a$$ to get off. How is the bumper removed. I won't have a problem removeing bolts, its the screws that will be hard to get out as they always seem to rust in there and wont budge.
  11. Hmm, not bad the grill was trashed wich would have been nice to have. I will probly grab the front though as it doesent look bad by its self. so does the fender fit. I will only have the problem of takeing it off as I have to find out how to remove the front bumper.
  12. Very, very nice find. I found an RX in a junk yard up by me thats white like yours. Its trashed though and some what rusted. I like it though such a clean car.
  13. I don't think the maroon is all that bad, silver also I like silver on my Gl-10 turbo sedan I think it wears it nicely.
  14. Let me just say if you spray your car with wd40 dont try to repaint it anytime soon. If you do It will fish eye like crazy( this means the paint will not stick it will move away from the efected area, like oil in water) and you will want to shoot you self. Even worse is the body shop will want to kill you if they paint it. Even if you try to wash it, wax and grease remove it, just try and clean it in any way it will take a while for that to get out. So I just wanted to warn you about this, and if you start to sand the car without even trying to clean it off first you will probly be screwed even more because know you opened up even more of the paint for it to go into.
  15. I was thinking about painting my Gl-10 also. with normal size cars a galon should do. It only gets bad when you screw up or want alot of coats then you could run out. I think a normal base coat repaint is three coats of paint. I also have rust and I was going to probly por15 my under side but I don't know yet. I have rust by the back rear sub mounts ( I think thats what they are called, the rear end bolts up here) and was going to weld in metal and cover this up.
  16. Well when I finaly found a junk yard with some soobs and while looking I came aross a RX coupe. I want to know if it will fit my sedan an 87 Gl. Also It has a body kit will the front air dam fit on my car. The side skirts won't obviously but what about the back.
  17. My 87 Gl-10 has both the height adjustment and lumbar suport.
  18. Well I thank you guys for the ofers but will see if the local junkyards have a good one first, but I will remember if I need a gas tank to talk to you guys about one. I will also look into it more before I get one.
  19. Thank you semyonlibman but I get discount at any autoparts store through my fathers auto repair business. I will call up the auto parts tommorow and check a price. I will also be going to the junk yard and will look for one there also.
  20. Will it matter if it came of a newer subaru. I have a 93 legacy with a 4 spd auto. I think its diffrent but I figured i would ask. Also all my ATF is going to run out isnt it.
