I got tired of looking at my whimpy, tiny blue factory trapazoid shaped steering wheel. I had plans to install an EJ22 airbag wheel but to no avail when I went to put my old wheel in that car it didn't work:-\ . So today while poking around in my dads yard of wrecks I decided to take a look at a 94 Mazda MX6. I origonaly went to see what speakers were it and I got a nice set of PolkAudio 5x8 that I stuck in my front doors. It was a upscale model with leather and when I looked at the preferated leather three spoke steering wheel I thought dam that would look awsome in my soob. So I took it off and what luck I had today, it fit on it and the same amount of splines. Got the horn to work but It would be complete if I could get the cruise control to work to. The Soob has three wires to the cruise buttons Green and black ( this is also tied into the horns) Yellow and black red with white The mazdas cruise control has two wires light blue and black with white So if someone could help me out and explain to me how to do this I would apprecite it greatly. Oh and sorry for such a long post I was real excited about my new wheel.

My rear drivers side axcel has a broken boot also, I just keep putting grease in the boot every now and then. Your post reminded me its time again.

It seems that when ever I leave the windows open I get animals in my car.I have almost driven off numerous times with the house cat in the back window of my soob,. That would not have been good though as I would have probly ben clawed to crap.

Ok then, I now what kind of a nightmare these stereos can be, belive me when I say "how excited" I was when I read the first post with common ground in it. I went threw that for three days when trying to wire up the stereo in my 86 BMW E30:rolleyes: , ahh how I remember the fun I had, and how manny times I lost it before I just ran all new speaker wires throughout the car. Not to bad though, the post was a really good one, thanks again everyone. -
Well I don't mean to break it to you, but If you have a 2 door hatch, the doors and hatch from a wagon won't work. Possibly the fenders foward will, plus some interior bits and pieces, probly anything on the doors except for the handle belzels wont work. Dash pieces should be the same. I may be wrong though as im going of memory from the two, but its really al down to trial and error and what obviously wont fit just by looking at it. I have had taken parts of other cars before that would look the same but be within centimeters off.

Dam I forgot to mention I have the trip computer:mad: and by the look of all those pic's its in the way. Sigh :-\ . What to do, what to do. -
I want to put in a cd player in my Gl-10 and well before I tear it out and apart, wanted to ask a few questions. 1) I have the tape player with factory second din equilizer adjustments. Does this mean I need a special plug type adapter. 2) I have read of clearence problems with aftermarket decks, is this for all of them or just certian ones. I just never saw a factory stereo system like mine in any EA82T Subaru. Thanks

I like the airbag look from the early 90's Subaru's. I have an 93 legacy with blue interior, and I wonder if the steering wheel will fit. Also I wonder if the horn and cruise control still will work with the new wheel's controls. -

You think your car has rust bad. On my car I have two of those rust holes in the same area you talk of. Oh and it is rusted along the bottom of the entire rocker panel, lets just say when I wash the car and water gets in those holes, it leaks out all the way up pased both front doors. It looks like a water fall if you could imagine . Just don't neglect the rust, yours is small, fix it or it will end up like mine. Oh and my car is to far with rust that I can't fix it :-\ . -

Dam, It makes me wish I had 80k now. I never se any low mileage soobs around by me thats why I asked, most all have over 140,000. -
I currrenly am driveing an 87 GL-10 Turbo, 3AT, 4WD, sedan. The uner side of the car is not in great shape and I was wondering if my EA82T was ever swaped into a new legacy when ever they started production to 1993. If so what is involved if someone could be kind enough as to give me a summery of items needed and about how hard it would be if possible. I did a search but I could not find anything. Thanks.

I have posted before about the 3at problems that I am haveing in my 87 GL-10. Well I think I was wrong about it for all this time. I have noticed that the slipping is due acually to the car not down shifting when I stop. I thought that a slipping or bad tranny is when it wont up shift, well mine will shift into all the gears and kick down when I pass. Its when I come to a stop it wont down shift back to first, Or when it is in fiesrt and I hit the gas to go it will up shift into second to soon at about 4 mph, it does this every so often. Plus I thought if your tranny was bad it will burn the atf badly and quicly and mine isnt burnt. So tell me what you think, I still don't think its done yet.

I ment axel, it was really late and I can't spell anyways:rolleyes: . Ok then, I was woried it was something worse, yea it does varry with speed, and is loud sometimes then soft. Does seem the worst at low speeds while corniering, but while driveing and turning it will stop. Thanks guys I will get this fixed.

Well I have had my CEL light on and I don't think this effects it, I think it just happened to start even before the CEL light stayed on for good. Car is an 87 3AT GL-10 4WD turbo. Let me try and describe this sound my car makes, Try and stay with me on this. It sounds like when an accel goes bad like a click, click, but times ten like a clank, clank, clunk, clunk kinda grinding or binding up type sound from the engine compartment. Now unless the accels in these cars make this sound when bad but I doubt its them because when it happens I can feel the pulses it makes trough the gas pedal. It does it anytime it wants, no matter the speed, rpm, cruiseing or coasting, light on the gas or heavy it will make this sound loud or soft. When it does I can turn the wheel while driveing and it will stop. While moveing slowly at a stop or backing up in my driveway while turning it does it but when slowly moveing and this is where it sounds like a binding, grinding type noise loud. My tranny is bad it does slip when cold and sometimes wont down shift when warm but will most of the time. Also when its warm and I shift into revers I hear a clunk. Doesnt make this clunk in drive. So what do you guys think, the accel, diffrential, or the whole tranny. Thanks

Well I did find the connectors like someone said, under the dash. I dont know if there is a blinking to tell its in diognostics mode or just starts throwing codes, I also was't sure on to connect both but I did this. No plugs connected I kept getting long,long, short. So thats 21 right Just green got same thing and heard the furel pump I cant really remember what happend with both but I think it was still just 21. Just black I got all these. 21, 23, 32, 33, 34, 35, 42, and then it repeats all over again. so if thats right then all those will make the Check engine light on, or just the one that I got with out any plugs which was 21. so are these right 21 coolent temp sensor ( would explain why hot or cold it wont start without giveing it gas) 23 afm 32 02 33 Vehicle speed sensor:rolleyes: ( my tranny does slip) 34 EGR solenoid 35 Purge control solenoid ( whats this) 42 Idel switch ( I did just put on a bpv and tap it into this hose) and then it repeats All I see now is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ So can somone please tell me that I checked for codes wrong and tell me how to check them right if so. I really hope that this can't be right. The CEL only used to flicker while driveing sometimes ( even before I put on the bpv) so what the heck. I have a soob with lots of issues then. Also what should zI fix first, im thinking the coolent temp sensor and from there on.

I have an 87 GL-10 turbo, automatic 4WD. Yesterday while driving the car the check engine light came on, it used to do this before and go on and off so I never really botherd. Well It is now on and sometimes when I am of the gas and coasting, or when I am at a low rpm while driveing I can hear a knocking soung. It used to do this before also when the CEL used to blink on and off while driveing but would go away, It still does it but more than before. Didn't do it when driveing home from work tonight but it did this morning. So I have the problem of finding the diognostics connectors, I have read that they are white and green and under the hood by the wiper motor, well I have four plugs and none of which they seem to go into. I have two rectangle ones brown, and other black. The others are white round, and black round. not one gan plug into eachother. So a picture will help:confused: I now the led is under thedash but I just cant find the plugs. So can I please get help and please don't give me crap on searching, I have looked and not found much to my advantage, I just have to fix the car becasue I drive it everday and am really dependant on it. I don't undersatnd, I might be takeing this the wrong way but why must you be sarcastic about it. I thought about the oil but if something is seriously wrong here that wont solve the problem. Adjust valves, I don't think so, back to the dealer then. I guess that sorta just answerd my question then, I just hope there some warenty left though, I dont stay with my mom enough to go to the dealer and talk, I just hope they don't try and screw around. Oh and I hav an old gen soob by the way, 87 Gl-10

Well I posted before about my moms 03 Baja, it has 38,576 miles and on a cold start it is noisy, knock,knock, but that is normal on a cold start. I told her its what they sound like, but today when she picked me up it was a normal opeating temp and you can still hear the knocking, you tend to hear it a little as you go through out the lower rpms untill you shift and when you give the car a little gas lets say to move foward at a light you hear it tick away. I told her to have it checked out and take it to the dealer she got it from. What basicly has to be done to fix it, I heard piston slap before but this doesent go away when warm and the weather is about 65 out so far. What do you sugest she should do. I just don't want them to tell her everythings fine when its not.
