Hello my friend swapped his carter-weber for a Hitachi. Now in 3rd and 4th gears it will start stumbling around 2k RPM. He's timed it and checked for vacuum leaks over a dozen times.(8*btdc with disty vac advance disconnected). I'm thinking maybe the distributor needs to be swapped too? This was a 1982 Brat with the Carter and we put a Hitachi, from a 1983 GL Wagon, on. Any ideas on what's wrong? He replaced the fuel filters in November.

I did that swap before too.I really dont have much good to say about the carter weber.I really didn't like the way it worked.

Yeah, that's why he swapped it. Did you have any problems going from carter-weber to Hitachi?
