March 16, 200620 yr Anybody Know?? Can I Use A Distributor Off A Carburated 1.8l Subaru? Will It Fit?? Putting The Engine On The Back Of My 71 Superbeetle Baja... Thanks
March 16, 200620 yr Author it should fit. I would keep the F.I. personally. more relyable. Thanks...I would keep the F.I., but I fried the computer and don't have the $$$ to buy the aftermarket comp. I want... I have an awesome weber off my VW motor to use... Thanks again:)
March 17, 200620 yr carbs rock. I miss my 40-50mpg hitachi with that freaky little anti-freeze line that plugged in
March 17, 200620 yr What engine is the fuel injected one, and what is the carb for? I think the intake manifolds for the SPFI EA82, carbed EA82, and carbed EA81 are interchangeable, so you should be able to do it. Shouldn't be too hard to find a junkyard suby with the proper ECU though -- the SPFI EA82's do have a bit more power than the carbed ones, with the same gas mileage. EDIT: oh on the distributor, I think you will have to use the one from a carbed EA82. I'm pretty sure the SPFI had a different distributor as far as sensors and such???
