Ea82 Shortshift

nail me for this... and laugh as you will.. but welding is involved to move correct ;)

I did weld it believe me it was no joke first I added a piece of steal about

1 inch when I fitted it back it was too long so I decreased it by half an

inch fitted it I lost fifth and reverse so that meant the I lost the angle

damn any way this time I was little more clever should have thought of it

at first I cut it again welded a bolt on 1 side and the other a nut so a can

adjust oh and another nut to act as a lock nut then it was k apart from

the adjustment finally I got it!!!:headbang:

Nuke,

The way I have it done is to first remove the bracket using a angle grinder

 

I then position and reweld the bracket up about an inch (see picture)

 

The next trick to retain the proper angle and to clear the floor is to bend the connection rod.

 

It is pictured on the left. I heated it with a blue tipped hot wrench (oxcetelene torch)

 

This method retains the factory pivot ball at the bottom of the shifter.

New bushing at this location also help tremendously.
