Clutch

Featured Replies

So here is the problem. I have an ea81 engine in an ea82 body mated to an the ea82 transmission. I had a problem with the clutch started to slip. So I bought a new clutch kit. Pressure plate clutch disk pilot bearing and throw out bearing. And got the flywheel turned. That flywheel only had like maybe 120,000 miles on it. Once I got it all back together it slipped just as much. So I have another flywheel for a ea82 engine. So the question is can I swap the ea82 flywheel into the ea81 engine? If there is any mods to do this or anyone knows anyone that has a ea81 flywheel for sale please let me know. Thanks:banana:

They probably didn't turn the flywheel right, there is supposed to be a max of .900" from the outer lip to the friction face. If they didn't turn the outer edge, then it's too loose and will slip.

.900" from the outer lip to the friction face. The face of the flywheel was resurfaced from the pilot bearing all the way out to the edge of the disc/drum where it turns 90 degrees. Couldn't the flywheel be worn out from normal wear? if the flywheel was "worn out" or too thin wouldn't the thickness of the new clutch be insufficient to create good contact between all surfaces.

They turn the mating surface of the pressure plate (on the flywheel), and the mating surface of the disc. So it's like a brand new flywheel again. The whole clutch assembly just moves a couple hundredths of an inch towards the engine - this is ok as the splines on the tranny input shaft are quite a bit longer than the clutch disc spline interface.

Does that make sense?

This should if that doesnt:

Properly Turned Flywheel = Brand New Flywheel
