April 28, 200619 yr So has anyone actually cryo treated anything here? I have my engine totally apart and i am getting A LOT of work done on it ie. ceramic coat, moly coating and i was thinking about haveing it Cryo treated as well. I know that this sounds crazy having all of this done to an ER27 but I look at it as increasing the longevity, durablity and power. I figure that I only want to build this engine once and I want to do it right the first time. 2 turbos on an ER27 will be crazy but making it last a long time will be even cooler! SO... Has anyone Cryo treated anything yet? Its fairly cheap and has a quick turn around. I know that some people were thinking about doing it but has it actually been done????
April 28, 200619 yr I know it is definately a good thing.I personally have not done it.A friend of mine did on a racing snowmobile that he turboed. He did the pistons and ceramic coated them.Longevity was increased over 4x.The other nice thing is it really helps the metal xfer heat alot better with less hot spotting.Good luck.
April 29, 200619 yr if you can afford it definitely do it. one of the biggest ways cryo helps is in thermal expansion, which is a huge factor in heads cracking. at least do the pistons, its like $5 a piston. I think you have to do them before you get them coated.
