Fog light button

Featured Replies

Before I start chasing my tail I thought Id ask here. The light on the fog light button, the one that lights up when the button is turned on, has burned out or something. I guess that is my question. Do I have to replace the switch, replace a fuse, just a bulb, what am i looking at? I know it isnt a big deal since the lights still work but it is nice to know if the lights are on without having to push the button on-off-on all the time. This is mainly during the day, at night I can see if they are on.

97 OBS, OE fog lights

Officially through Subaru, you have to replace the switch.

But if it's like my 99 Forester, you just need to replace the bulb. Pull the switch out and disassemble it... carefully. You'll find the bulb that you can remove and take to Radio Shack. Find the closest match and stuff it back in. Worked great for me.

There's a thread somewhere on this board about this - I'll see if I can find it for you.

Its a bulb from radioshack, the same bulb that goes into the climate control. The radioshack bulb also lasts longer and is cheaper.

The fog switch bulbs have quarter-turn sockets, there's nothing tricky about it. You can use a generic 7219 bulb or get from a dealer a bulb assembled with the socket.
