2004 outback holding rainwater?

Featured Replies

has anyone heard of this? i just bought an 04 outback and after it rained at night, the next morning i heard alot of water that sounded as if it was coming from under the car on the driver's side. when i brought the car to a stop and opened the door, i could see quite alot of water draining out from the area around the mud flap of the driver's side front tire. after driving for a bit, the water appears to drain completely (i can't hear it anymore). so far, this has happened twice. i have an appointment to take it by the dealer but wanted to see if anyone has heard of anything like this. thanks!!!

Sounds like one of the drain areas is clogged. That lower section beneath the door sill is open, and if you remove the plastic wheel liner, you should be able to look in there. It's possible some leaves and junk have gotten in there.

The Outbacks mudguards have a large cavity that fills with debris and water ...I go wheelin alot and I always saw puddles....I've since replaced them with a cut to fit guard.

clean ALL the drains as long as you are at it. Both fenders, the doors, the air cowl under the hood, and make sure the HVAC drain is clear.
