Vacuum Diagram - 96 2.5 Outback

Featured Replies

Doing a HG job on a 96 2.5/auto Outback and I forgot to label a couple of the vacuum lines on the passenger side when I pulled the intake off. I did a search and found this thread (http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=51974&highlight=vacuum+diagram) which was addressing an early 90's motor, would it apply to my 96?

There are 2 lines coming off the fender (pressure sensor & switching solenoid valve?), one with what looks like a check valve. There is a nipple on the intake, a brown nipple below the intake (purge control solenoid valve?) witha seconf line that has a tee, and a line coming off the fuel rail (pressure regulator?). Anybody have a good vacuum diagram that will clarify these lines?

This may be too obvious, but have you checked the underside of the hood? Many cars have the vacuum diagram pasted on there.

Confirmed. Both my 96's have the the vacuum diagram on the underside of the hood.:banana:

A picture says a thousand words. I just went outside to take a picture under the hood of my 97 Outback with the 2.5. It's dark here so the shot may not be exactly composed as I wanted, but I think it shows clearly enough where the vacuum lines go. As you can see, I still have tape on the vacuum lines marking where they go as I had the engine out last year for a HG.

The line leading out of what looks like a flow control, goes to a Tee and then to the intake manifold.

I will try to answer any other questions you may have after you look at the picture.

I am having trouble sending/attaching a picture to this post. If you would

like to see it, send me your email address and I'll forward it to you using my normal email

Regards;

Ken
