XT-6 in a 85 GL?

Featured Replies

Hi, I'm new to subaru stuff and was wondering about an XT-6 engine I can get with low miles. Can it be put in a 85 wagon feasibly?

I have many years of autobody/mech. exper. and it would be fun to try this.

Anyone have some ideas?

Thanks

From what I understand on the subject, you will also need to use the xt6 (or maybe an RX) transmission to be able to withstand the added hp. I'm not sure about an 85 wagon.. but in a brat you have to relocate the radiator. There will be some fabricating involved.. and possibly some cutting. You'll need ecu, wiring, etc. It's really all about time and money. People have put those motors into Brats, Loyales, etc. So you should be able to get it into your wagon. Let's see pics and a write-up if you go for it!

I haven't seen either of them post in a while, but PM subarubrat or Adam N.D.J. They've both shoehorned ER27's in their Brats, they could probably give you a few pointers.

Thanks..I will look into it further in that case. Not really sure I need all the extra HP but would be fun. The party w/engine pulled all necessary components for swap and it alledgedly has 98,000 miles. He was going to do an aircraft project but deciuded against it and is asking for any offer. May offer 100 just to see.

hard stuff would be wiring harness and ECU. if that's already pulled and ready for you, that's alot of work already done for you.
