'92 loyale intake question...plz help

Featured Replies

My chiltons manual tells me that to pull off my intake to change the gaskets and i need to pull off all of my vacuum lines, fuel lines, distributor and lots of other stuff.. But my friend told me i could pull the intake off enough to change the gaskets without disconnecting all of the fuel and vaccuum lines.. anyone have any info for me and if this is possible

Thanks

you will need to remove the EGR tube, rear passenger side of engine - just a 17mm open end wrench required I think - the trick will be to raise it enough to clean the gasket surfaces - and making sure nothing falls into the engine - you should be able to get enough free play to do at least some of the work without disconnecting everything, but a lot of stuff will need probably need to be disconnected - just do it as you find it gets in your way - there really isnt too much to be worried about, as that FI intake is pretty simple, and easy to remove/install (been there before)

you MUST depressurize the fuel system though before you start - that should be in your manual - unplug the fuel pump, then start and run the engine until the car stalls

good luck

You shouldn't have to remove the distributor. If I remember right, You can disconnect the fuel lines, undo the vapor canister clamp and one heater line hose and the upper radiator hose, and maybe one vaccuum line that's on the passenger side. It's not as hard as it sounds. Then you should be able to tilt it back to the fire wall and work.
